Iran flick ‘Blockage’ to internationally premiere at Busan fest

Iranian director Mohsen Gharaei’s film ‘Blockage’ is to vie at Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) in South Korea.

Iranian director Mohsen Gharaei’s film ‘Blockage’ has been selected to vie at Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) in South Korea, enjoying international premiere at the event.

According to a Thursday press release by 22nd edition of the Busan International Film Festival, 10 titles became official selections for New Currents section of the event, including the Iranian flick by Gharaei.

Other films competing in the New Currents section come from India, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and South Korea.

‘Blockage’ reflects the overwhelming “chaos that happens to a vicious, despicable man who works as a street vendor control officer,” the press release for BIFF read.

Hamed Behdad won the best actor award for the film from the 11th Celebration of Iranian Cinema Critics and Screenwriters earlier this month.

Moshen Gharaei was born in the Iranian city of Behshahr in 1984. His debut feature film was ‘Don't Be Tired!’.

The Busan International Film Festival’s New Currents section provides a venue for promising Asian directors to showcase their works.

This year’s BIFF will be held in the port city of Busan, South Korea from October 12 through October 21.
